Communications Manager

HealthCare Access Maryland (HCAM) is a leading Baltimore-based nonprofit agency dedicated to connecting our clients to health insurance, health care, and vital community resources. Every day, our 200+ employees work with individuals, hospitals, policymakers, and social services organizations to strengthen Maryland’s health care delivery system and make Maryland healthier. HealthCare Access Maryland invites applications for the position of Communications Manager. The Communications Manager is responsible for planning and managing events and outreach activities; planning, drafting, and posting internal and external communications, managing publications, and managing the work and projects given to external communications vendors.

Responsibilities include:

Assess and respond to requests for HCAM presence at outreach events.  Assist with planning events and manage all aspects of their execution specifically health insurance enrollment events.   Promote events through a variety of outlets, including social media, paid media, and earned media.  Identify and manage vendors (photographers, caterers, printers, and so on) for events.  Develop social media calendar a minimum of two weeks in advance.  Plan, write, and post schedule social media communications.  Plan and write internal communications and cross post to social platforms as appropriate.  Manage story banking activities and. Keep website updated and organized.  Manage production of annual report and other publications as needed. Help develop departmental SOPs for quality control. Identify and manage outside vendors, such as graphic designers and printers.  Review, update, and stock publications for all programs, ensuring they are edited and proof-read.

Required Qualifications  

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a related field
  • 3 years of experience working in a communications capacity in a high-energy environment
  • Reliable transportation
  • Some evening and weekend work required
