HealthCare Access Maryland Launches Health Insurance Open Enrollment Campaign
BALTIMORE — November 1, 2017 marked the launch of the Open Enrollment period for Marylanders to sign up for insurance through the federal Affordable Care Act.
HealthCare Access Maryland, a nonprofit organization, will play a key role as the Connector Entity helping consumers to enroll in qualified health insurance plans in Baltimore City, and Baltimore, Anne Arundel, Howard, Carroll and Frederick Counties.
The Open Enrollment period ends December 15, 2017.
“We want the public to know that there are affordable health insurance options available on the exchange this year,” said Traci Kodeck, president and CEO of HealthCare Access Maryland. “Our team of trained navigators will walk consumers through the process and help them make the best decision about insurance. We urge all residents of the area to learn about their options for free or affordable insurance coverage.”
During the Open Enrollment period, consumers can sign up for various private insurance plans. Additionally, Marylanders who meet income and other eligibility factors can enroll in the state’s Medicaid insurance program.
Because of recent changes in plans, premiums and subsidies, HealthCare Access Maryland urges all consumers to shop for a 2018 plan, rather than accepting the automatic re-enrollment.
Consumers who sign up for insurance by December 15, 2017, will have their policies go into effect January 1, 2018.
HealthCare Access Maryland has navigators who can assist consumers in locations throughout the region. Consumers can find all locations and hours at www.hcamaryland.org, or by calling 410-500-4710 or 855-288-3667. Spanish-language assistance is available.
