The Information and Referral Program a collaborative effort with Baltimore Substance Abuse Systems (BSAS) assist city residents seeking addiction treatment. HCAM screens callers for insurance eligibility and makes referrals to community treatment sites. We also provide outreach advocates to three highly-utilized sites to screen for insurance eligibility and provide hands-on assistance with completing applications. By confirming their insurance status before clients enter treatment and assisting clients once they are enrolled in treatment, BSAS-funded treatment programs are able to bill third-party payers leaving publicly-funded slots open for uninsured clients.
