Baltimore Buprenorphine Initiative
HCAM’s Baltimore Buprenorphine Initiative (BBI) collaborates with the Baltimore City Health Department and Behavioral Health System Baltimore to connect substance use treatment providers, community health centers, and primary care physicians in the fight to end heroin and prescription drug addiction in Baltimore City.
BBI plays a crucial role in this collaboration by helping Baltimore residents who enrolled into buprenorphine treatment: enroll in health insurance and find a primary care provider who will manage their ongoing buprenorphine treatment while addressing their other health care needs.
BBI Treatment Advocates partner with clients to develop an individualized care plan designed to achieve goals that support stabilization and sustain recovery. For example, advocates may link individuals to job readiness programs, GED classes, food stamps, peer support groups, housing, and much more. We serve our BBI clients for up to 18 months.
HCAM’s BBI Treatment Advocates are located in numerous buprenorphine treatment facilities throughout Baltimore City.
In FY17, HCAM assisted 745 clients through the Baltimore Buprenorphine Initiative.
