HealthCare Access Maryland’s Ombudsman Program assists enrollees through education, assistance, advocacy, and conflict resolution in understanding the managed care system and using their health plan’s internal grievance process. We investigate and resolve complaints that are referred to us through the State’s HealthChoice Enrollee Action Line Complaint Resolution Unit. Our staff have expertise in services and resources for special needs populations including perinatal/family planning, substance abuse, the homeless, adults with disabilities or chronic illnesses, and children with special health care needs. We are available for presentations and technical assistance to consumers, providers, and advocacy groups.
