HealthCare Access Maryland (HCAM) will host the first of four health insurance enrollment assistance events on Saturday, November 21st at the Sheraton Baltimore North Hotel in Towson. The event takes place from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Participants interested in learning about enrollment options should bring a valid state ID or driver’s license, proof of income, Social Security card, and if applicable, tax information and immigration card. Bilingual staff are available to assist on-site.

While the uninsured rate has fallen from year to year, there are still nearly 308,000 eligible, but uninsured residents in Maryland. This enrollment cycle, HCAM is targeting hard-to-reach consumers in Baltimore City, Baltimore County and Anne Arundel County who are eligible to enroll in a Qualified Health Plan but are still uninsured.

HCAM’s offices in these areas will be open throughout the enrollment cycle to receive calls and appointments from consumers seeking free, in-person assistance with first-time enrollment or re-enrollment in a health insurance plan. The events in Towson, Baltimore City, Highlandtown and Annapolis are offered to accommodate the demand for enrollment help.

In 2016, eligible, uninsured Marylanders could face an increased penalty if coverage is not secured by the end of the enrollment period.
