Insurance Programs

HealthCare Access Maryland partners with the Maryland Department of Health and Maryland Health Connection to help Marylanders enroll in health insurance. We can help you enroll in, renew, or make changes to your Medicaid (also called Medical Assistance) coverage or private health insurance purchased through Maryland Health Connection. And we can answer questions about your coverage.

Medicaid is free or low-cost health insurance for children, families, pregnant women and single adults who qualify based on household income. Private health insurance options, also called Qualified Health Plans, are offered by commercial insurance carriers and are certified by Maryland Health Connection to meet the requirements of the Affordable Care Act. Qualified Health Plans require you to pay a monthly premium which is based on your income.

Changes are coming to Medicaid

When the COVID-19 pandemic began in 2020, Marylanders who were eligible for Medicaid then continued to be covered, even if they are no longer eligible now.

If you are no longer eligible or need to renew your Medicaid coverage, you will receive a notice from Maryland Health Connection in your account or in the mail when it’s your turn to renew.

Keep your info current. Keep yourself insured.
