State of Healthcare in Maryland: Advancing Health Equity with Data

HealthCare Access Maryland’s “State of Healthcare in Maryland” Speaker Series continued on Thursday, March 17th. In this session, our expert panel discussed how Maryland’s healthcare system is advancing health equity with data.

HCAM was joined by experts in the field of healthcare information technology and health informatics. Our esteemed panel, moderated by HCAM CEO Traci Kodeck, included Aquiera Halsey, MPH – JANE Inc., Dr. Sos Mboijana – Kaiser Permanente, and Ron Nolte – Luminis Health.

Health data plays a critical role in understanding health disparities and the needs of specific communities in Maryland. The panel discussed the ways in which physicians and health systems are using health data to improve and inform patient care. They also discussed how patients can access their own health data, and use it to advocate for their care. Finally, the panel addressed the importance of policy makers using data to make systemic improvements to Maryland’s healthcare system.
